CALOOCAN Mayor Enrico Echiverri has instructed Liga ng mga Barangay President, Councilor Ricojudge “RJ” Echiverri, to form risk reduction teams in all barangays of the city as a way of preparing for any possible disaster that may hit the country.
He said this is necessary so each barangay may immediately respond to the need of residents wherever fires, typhoons, earthquakes or any other type of disaster strike.
Echiverri said the volunteers who would be picked from each barangay will undergo proper training, particularly on the process of saving lives and property of the residents in need.
The chosen and trained volunteers would then have members of the Reformed Department of Public Safety and Traffic Management (RDPSTM) Rescue Team as its partners.
Volunteers and the RDPSTM rescue team members will be tasked to impart to residents and students in their respective barangays the knowledge they have in disaster preparedness.
Experts will also teach the volunteers how to administer first aid to injured residents before the disaster victims are taken to the nearest hospital.
“Proper preparation for any disaster that would visit our country assures that we’ll be able to respond efficiently and save both lives and property of our constituents,” Echiverri said.
